I am heading back in mid-September for a couple of weeks and wanted to pick your brains on Ima, Thomas or others within a few days paddling distance of Snowbank. I will be going solo again but this time concentrating on enjoying the view and fishing. I have had decent luck on Ima a few times and went into Thomas once but was rained out before really getting to fish it much. If you were heading in mid-September, would you continue paddling further in or basecamp at one of those lakes and punch out during the days from there hitting other spots?
Sounds like a great trip! With a couple of weeks, I suggest making it to Thomas for your basecamp. Excellent fishing right there on Thomas. Plenty of day trip options into Fraser for fishing too. The smaller lakes near Fraser have been productive for us. Depending on your interests and ambitions, you could take a day trip up to Wisini or, if you really push, down to Fishdance and see the pictographs. If that is too far, a full day on Alice is worth it, in my opinion.
If you do stay on Ima, there is plenty of good fishing right as you know and you'd have the advantage of some fishing experience there. If you are on Ima you also have the option to do a day trip into the PMA and see Reflection and possibly Sedative lakes...I haven't seen those two lakes so you'll have to see if others have advice.
Either way, enjoy your solo. I'm looking at a September solo into LISN and am very excited to see the colors. Cheers!
Hopefully I'll be in this same area around the same time. I've never been in the area so can't offer any advice, but I'll be watching this thread closely!
