What does everyone do for packing/storing tackle? My plan was to bring a couple Plano boxes and shove them in one of the bags, does anyone have a better plan?
That's what we do. One plano box that's about 6" x 10" for jigs and lures and a ziplock bag for plastic tails/plastic baits. The box and ziplock go in a pack for travel.
I limit myself to one or two waterproof 3700 Plano boxes. Once they are full I’m done. It really helps to put small rubber bands on the treble hooks. Makes it so much easier for storage.
I take a small berkley tackle bag. It fits 2 of the medium size clear boxes plus some room on top for fish grip or spinner bait box. Yes it's something extra to carry on portages but it's small and I find it much easier to manage when all my fishing stuff (stringer, pliers, tackle, etc) are in one spot vs remembering which pack they went into and how far down they are while sitting on the lake w/ a thrashing pike at your feet.
Not counting the carry strap and such, it's probably the size of a shoe box. Can fit anywhere in the canoe while traveling and easy to carry on portages since we're not carrying anything else in our hands
