You can get a brand new Northstar this weekend @ the Midwest Mountaineering Expo in Mpls at 10% off list, and they have 3 Northwind 16s and 2 17s available @ list from $3,295-$5,345. High end is a 16 in carbon with the E6 trim @ $5,345 weighing in at 32 pounds-well below the 42 you listed.

Ideally I want a NW17 with E6 or Wood gunwales.
So, if I am going to spend 5k I don't want a 16, 18 or a Polaris.
I have not been able to find a NW17 in Stealth or Starlight with E6/Wood that is available in the next 3 weeks before my first trip.
Both NW17's at MidMo are aluminum rails, they are backup options, for sure!
