Looking for someone who might consider loaning or selling a Wenonah Encounter. Happy to talk more via email, phone, or in person at Canoecopia this year. I'm near Madison.
I have the opportunity to do a solo trip early this year and the primary goal is laker fishing. Thanks to the great people on this site, I have determined that the Encounter is my best option for my size and desire for a fishing platform. The permit I have reserved is on the Gunflint side, but no one there rents Encounters. I can rent one in Ely and add 1.5 hours to my travel time, or modify my permit to be closer to Ely. Neither of these options allows me to get familiar with the canoe or test/verify the great fish finder setups recommended on this forum (temporary/removable of course).
If you have an Encounter and read this far, I hope you will consider helping me realize my dream fishing trip this year. Fair compensation can be expected for temporary or permanent use. Let's talk.
You would probably be quite happy with a Northwind Solo which I'm sure can be found on the Gunflint side. Maybe a touch slower, and that's a maybe, very stable, can carry a ton and is not as likely to get blown around. The Encounter tends to catch a fair bit of breeze.
Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody’s going to die.
