I lost my canoe companion in Sept 2023 to heart and pancreas disease but after 2 weeks of mourning her loss I realized I needed to move to the next chapter. So I researched border collie breeders and put down a deposit to pick 4th in an upcoming litter.

The female had 7 pups. 6 males, one female. Long story short I got a pup that I never considered because I thought he would be long gone when it was my turn to pick. I say that because of the unusual markings on this male the breeder named “Vivaldi”.

So Cody is now exactly 4 months old. He’s really great and he’s got a big “toy drive”. He’s very athletic, friendly, and adventurous. So far so good. I’m actually hoping to take him to Quetico in September. I’m in a dog training online home school class and working on his recall. He’s doing great so far. I hope to get him out paddling in July and sees how he behaves.

And he loves going in the car! A little too much as he barks out of excitement as soon as he gets in. Hopefully he grows out of that.

So sorry to hear about Luna. Really tough to lose our partners in life and motion. As difficult as it is I think that finding a new doggie love is really smart and Cody looks a beaut.

I hope I get the chance to meet him. (Django seconds the motion).

Thanks Jon. Yeah it’s rough and I miss Luna. She was so easy compared to a wild puppy. lol.

We will have to get the boys together sometime. I’ll bring him this fall on certain conditions. He can’t be a barker, no chasing wildlife and his recall has to be strong. And he has to behave in the boat. That’s a lot to ask of a 9 month old so I’ll see how he develops this summer.

I’m sure Cody would love to hang with Django someday.

Django took his first trip at 7.5 months. We were in a tandem so it was a easier.
