Attended the annual Chequamegon Bay Birding and Nature Festival this past weekend in Ashland, Wisconsin. Something we look forward to each year. Despite the late spring we were treated to numerous sightings of warblers in their brilliant breeding colors.
Birds of note included Cape May, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Blackburnian, Bay-Breasted, Canada, Black & White, and Chestnut-sided Warblers, Redstarts, Northern Parulas, Scarlet Tanagers, and Evening Grosbeaks.
The final count of species typically exceeds 170. A great three days that includes canoeing and kayak adventures as well.

Sounds like a great time Freddy. I wonder if the Warblers around Ashland migrate straight across Lake Superior or if they stay close to shore like the hawks and eagles.
I have been seeing and hearing many of them around Ely too. I have been fortunate enough to be with some accomplished birders who can ID them for quickly for me.
The lake serves as a big detour sign to virtually all migrants causing a funnel effect which concentrates large numbers of birds along the north shore. They all make a hard left until they reach the Duluth area.
