This revereware pot has a thick bottom so I thought I might be able to get dual use out It as an oven also. I'm going to use a wire rack that fits inside, to get the 8" cake pan off the bottom. I ordered a replacement thermometer for the beeman oven and drilled a hole in the lid to mount it. Have not tried it yet but it looks like it should work.

Fire under only? Not like a dutch oven with heat on top? Similar concept to a jmo. Let us know if the handles hold up. I'm guessing much hotter air than in the top of pot wit water in it.

I haven't tried it yet, waiting for the weather to break. My thoughts are it would be like a typical oven with the heat circulating all the way around the food. With the thermometer I should be able to control the temperature fairly accurately. We'll see

It looks good! I have done similar baking with the largest pot in my set and a couple of small stones or metal nuts in the bottom to be a rack. I put it in the pot cozy to let it "finish" baking.

Keep us updated. I am interested in how the thermometer works for you.

Are you putting water in it like a Bakepacker and doing steam baking?

Once It starts to warm up, I'll take it out and give it a try. Hopefully I'll have a pic of some golden brown biscuits to go with an update. I had not planned to use it with water but I bet with a splash of water in the bottom when almost done would give it a good steaming. My original thought was to use it on top of a stove Instead of an open fire to control the temp better. Hopefully the handles won't meltdown on a stove.
