I bought a used Hennessy that came with the 15 foot version of that suspension. I thought it looked big and heavy and was all set to cut it off and replace it with whoopies. But after setting it up a few times I've grown to like it a lot. Not sure what I would gain by swapping it out. Still need tree straps. And I really like the fact that everything is attached to the hammock. Less chance of getting to your destination and realizing you left part of your suspension behind. I'll be taking it on my early August trip to EP 64. Just might have to buy a set for my other Hennessy.

The big advantage for removable tree straps is that you can avoid getting sap on your hammock or bishop bag. Using a regular ziplock baggie for the connected straps can isolate the sappy straps. I think it is better to have attached straps for the exact reason stated above...its a real bummer to pull out your hammock and realize your straps are back at the last site.

My BBWB came with a similar adjustable buckle and I added the older style of Dutch Clip. Works well. Make sure your strap is straight going through the cinch buckle. On larger trees try to push the dutch clip around the tree 90Ā°. On one direction it will stay and on the other it will slip back in line with the hammock. On a 12ā€ tree you can use this to move your hammock over 6ā€ away from the side with the zipper giving yu more usable tarp space.
