I have a Morning Star (red, royalex) in great shape. Looking to trade, or buy a Northwind. Only willing to trade, or buy a NW in red if it's made out of royalex. Would love to find a composite for a good price. Let me know if you have one that you are willing to sell. I made a similar post on this about a year ago, but backed off because part of me doesn't want to go with a bigger boat. I like to solo my MS and I don't think the NW will solo as well. The MS works perfect for my wife and I, but I also have a large dog and when I go out with larger friends with gear I start wishing I had a bigger boat. Time to let go. Not interested in selling my boat until I have a replacement. I live in Minneapolis. Feel free to call 612_730_0714. Thanks!

No it won't. Works ok on a calm day but any wind and it's a bear to handle.

Have you thought about the old Bell 16' Northstar instead of the Northwind?

It probably would solo better than the Northwind but might be tough to have you, your wife and dog plus the gear in it.

Northstar sounds like a great boat, but I don't think it's going to give me the extra stability I'm looking for when I have my 75 pound dog on board. I'm open to other offers other than the Northwind. The Souris River quetico 17 might be a good fit. Maybe a prospector. Would like something that could handle Lake Superior, or a little bit of whitewater. I took the Morning Star on one trip on the big lake and was really impressed with how it handled in choppy water. Want a boat that has some rocker, but would still like to have some speed. Willing to sacrifice with how well it solos to get a solid tandem.

Would also like to try an Old Town Appalachian.
