Used my hammock a few nights on 3 short trips.

My hang is better, and I am dialing things in. My hammock was always comfortable, but I am adjusting and making it even better.

First issue I am having is the bug net tends to sag right by my head. I do not recall having this issue last year, but I have lately. (Hennesy asym)

Second, my whoopie slings have been used a total of 20-25 nights. I noticed my foot end sling seems to have stretched in one spot. Is that normal, or a sign of wear?

on the netting, try to maintain a 30 degree hang, maybe your tree span is too close? on the whoopies, same thing happen to me, i went with dutch clips, buckles and webbing.

Pretty normal on an amsteel whoopie.
Bug net may be sagging due to suspension angle or trees to cloe together.
Carry forth.

Clarification....

The net sagging is not end to end. My ridgeline is tight ( but not too tight).

It is drooping side to side. There are no tie outs to "lift" the net off my face.

Hi ECPizza,

I noticed this issue (bug net on my face) on my Explorer during my last hang. It was very loose on the left side, coming close to making contact with me. I still have the original suspension on - too cheap to swap it out, and the Boy Scout in me still likes them knots.

What I did notice is that the hammock bed had taken in quite a droop in the humid weather I was in - a week of thunderstorms will do this, I suppose. The ridgeline stayed at proper tension through, so my lay wasn't terribly affected.

I also noticed that the hammock was spinning around the gather points, giving more bugnet on the left side. I think that was the major cause - of course, I was too busy to rip off the underquilt and all, so I just propped it with some clothing.

It will be interesting to see if the stretch is still there - I need to hang it in the garage this week anyway. Too bad that I didn't get a photo this time.

Side note - I just got a Superfly, and I'm hoping this humidity issue will never happen again - the asym tarp didn't cut it on the sideways rain we had.
