So I tried to rig a hammock this past late winter and had trouble with the Whoopie sling sliding off the toggle knot. From this picture (Yes I know the whoopie cord is not position correctly) can you tell me if my knot was correct.

It was my understanding that the sling should go around the toggle knot and not the toggle. But it the cord from the sling kept slipping off. Do you have to keep tension on the hammock and line while you rig one end? Any suggestions on what I could do? Thanks.

It looks pretty good, you should get the whoopie pushed back even farther. Did it come off after you had been it it once or twice or did it come off the first time. I will usually pull the tail up through the whoopie. I have found that once loaded the whoopie would get wedged into the knot.

I agree with this. Once loaded, it should stick. Your knot looks perfect, but I think you should try to drape the whoopie in a reverse manner.

I would try to do it the way I show you with the red line in the picture.

When you put the whoopie in the middle of the strap just above the toggle, the knot kind of envelopes the amsteel and there is no slippage.

Hope this makes sense.

DamnFast, the whoopie kept slipping off the knot down onto the toggle. It was my understanding from a Shug video you never wanted the sling onto the toggle you wanted it wedged onto the knot.

As you can see from the picture it would be pretty easy for it to slip off the edge of the knot onto the toggle. I was in kind of a hurry as it was getting dark so maybe a calmer head and more practice at home. Biggest other thing was my trouble finding an ideal tree distance in the campsite.

Always use the fabric/knot, not the pin. Should be a symetrical attachment. Agree to watch Shug, he explaines very clearly.

It actually needs to be behind the knot. The whoopie should be tucked in where the strap goes into the knot. In your picture the whoopie should be moved to the left to before the strap enters the knot.

This may give some insight.....
Hope it helps.
