I will be picking up a permit in Atikokan 5/23/16. Are there many used for sale in that town?

At that time of year the pickings are pretty slim. Many outfitters sell used boats after the end of the season. Renting is probably a better option for early in the season.
BUT, you could call various outfitters up there and ask them.
