Ive not heard of a reliable way to determine this.

Beyond the remote possibility of an outfitter talking with someone who just exited, my thought process when entering Ram is to assess how many vehicles are in the lot and then try and make a determination on how many campsites they might be occupying.

Don't let the worry of finding a site get into your head. It will drive you crazy.
Cars in a parking lot do not equal campsite occupancy.
We all have different plans and we all disperse once we go in.
The odds of all the sites Ram and Little Trout being occupied is very small. Even then, the odds of a site opening up is about 100%.
People come and go, people are on the move. Most people entering at Ram are not base campers.

Have fun on your trip. Ram is a great secluded area.

A lot of people day trip into Ram, but when I traveled through that area one June, only 1 site on Ram was occupied and no sites on Little Trout were occupied.

Hi all - we'll be going into Ram on May 15. Wondering if we should be worried about finding a site on Ram or Little Trout. I know there's only 1 permit per day, but all permits are booked the entire 7 days before us. Has anyone had experience with the 2 sites on Ram *and* the 3 sites on Little Trout all being filled? What have people done in this situation, proceeded through the dreaded Misquah portage and camped on the crappy Misquah site? Gone all the way to Vista? TIA!
