I have been fighting severe Gout attacks on feet the past 2 1/2 months. Started on my left foot just after Memorial Day. It was so bad I could hardly walk so I went to my personal physician. He prescribed 300 mg of Alipurinol per day to reduce my Uric acid production after my blood test showed my Uric acid level to be 8.5 And anything over 6 is supposed to be high.

A few weeks later I had another bout and a Urgent Care Podiatrist gave me a cortisone shot in the top of my right foot and gave me some Cochicine and a 7 day Steroid Pack to reduce inflammation and help pain. After a week I wax fine.

I drove up to Atikokan for a 2 week trip into Quetico the last week of June and I had a Gout flare up in my left the day before I was supposed to go in. I turned around and drove back 750 miles to Iowa to recover. There was no way I could walk on my left foot with such a bad case of gout. Doc gave me a steroid pack and colchicine and in about a week I was able to walk.

I had quite a few beers over Memorial Day weekend as I went to the Indy 500 with family and friends for a 3 day celebration. Doc recommended NO ALCOHOL especially BEER as it’s very high in purines they contributes to high Uric acid and crystal formation. No RED MEAT either. Yikes …. I like my beer and red meat especially in summer time.

I heeded the docs orders and had any alcohol or red meat since Memorial Day. I have been drinking 1 gal of water a day to help flush the Uric acid crystals out of my body. I have been told drinking Tart Cherry Juice helps alleviate Gout do I am drinking 8 to 10 oz. of Tart Cherry Juice every day.

Well I just had another gout attack on my left foot yesterday. My foot was so very swollen and painful to even touch. I got another 7 day steroid pack and 3 colchicine tablets. I am able to walk today but right foot is still slightly swollen.

I will be 69 later this year and never had Gout until this year. 3 attacks since Memorial Day. Crazy. Not sure what is causing it. I have read that only 30% of Gout issues are caused by diet. The rest is genetic.

Let me know if you know of any Gout remedies. I will try just about anything as it’s one of the most painful things I have ever experienced. It’s painful to even have a sheet lay on your toes when you are in bed trying to sleep.
