Thought I would check on here to see if anyone has available a footprint for the REI Half Dome 2HC.

Their current models all have different dimensions from what I can tell.

Have tarp that I use for it, but would like the properly fitted footprint.

Thanks,

I have made custom foot prints for all of my tents (9 of them) out of construction grade Tyvex. Its relatively inexpensive and works great. Alos, it' much puncture-proof than a plastic sheet, and it's totally waterproof, thats why its used as a vapor barrier on new construction. You can either order it on-line, or buy it from Home Depot etc.

+1 on the tyvek. When I camped in a tent I used tyvek as an footprint and made it big enough to make a floor for my vestibule. My fathers tent floor was almost rubbed through do to him using a thermarest cot, I made an innie for his tent four years ago. He still uses it and it is holding up great. I still use a small rectangle of it under my hammock as a mat to stand and change on.

+1 on the home made foot prints. I used a very thick (can't remember the mil, maybe 6 mil?) grade of clear plastic and cut it to size. Bought a whole roll for few bucks at a home improvement store about 10 years ago and haven't run out yet. The pre-made ones are insanely expensive and made out of the same grade plastic, only colored.

Thanks for the replies, will have to take a look at the tyvek option.

Do you add webbing/gromits to tyvek?

I didn't on mine since it's an inch shorter dimension than the tent footprint. It don't think grommets would hold long. It's strong stuff but any hole tends to weaken fabric weave.
Prepare beforehand: Run an oversized rough cut-out in cold water wash (no soap). TWO wash cycles gets it wrinkled & quiet as it's going to get.
Measure, cut, fold 1" seam & gorilla glue. Done. You could glue in loops (for stakes) at the corners when you fold seams.

Here's a pic of one I made with a piece that I got from ebay. Just rolled the corner back and sewed in a nylon webbing strip then added grommets in the right place so the tent poles hold it in place.
